A couple times a year, I get inspired with an idea that I just can’t let go of. I have to make it happen, and if it works well, it becomes a new offering.

Often, this inspiration comes with a model in mind. Sometimes they’ve partially inspired the idea, or sometimes they just have vibe I want for the shoot I’m creating.

In March, I started dreaming of a winter sunrise beach shoot, with a chunky baby in wooly knits, and an older kiddo or 2 splashing about. I felt it’d be tricky to get the right morning, the right weather and clouds with no wind but I just desperately wanted to do it!

I instantly knew the perfect fam for this session, we’d done this Perfect Park Sesh years ago, and they’re fellow homeschoolers. So I reached out to Jeral on insta, where we follow each other, but it wasn’t good timing for them so she said thanks but not thanks. I was disappointed, but that’s ok, I’ve never offended if my idea just isn’t right for a fam!

So I wrote up this post, detailing what I was looking for, and shared it in a couple groups too. I got lots of lovely comments from people over a few days, but noone was exactly perfect. I had a whinge to my bestie that I really just wanted Jeral to change her mind, lol. Now that I’d imagined this shoot with her fam in it, I couldn’t see anyone else fitting the bill. Bestie suggested I just gently check in with Jeral, as it’d been a few days, that she definitely didn’t want to do it before I chose a different family. Good advice.

So that arvo, I opened insta to message her and lo and behold, but Jeral had messaged me explaining I’d caught her the day before rent inspection when everything was too hard, but now that that was all over she was very keen. Hallelujah! I was stoked, and told her that noone would work but them anyway and boy, was I thrilled.

Fast forward a few weeks, to where Jeral nailed the fashun brief, and we anxiously watched the weather for the week we’d chosen to shoot. We found the perfect morning at Hillarys Dog Beach at 7am with her divine family (including Winter the oodle) and it just could not have turned out any better! As the peachy soft morning light gave way to brighter blue skies, we had the best time. I never post sessions in original shoot order, but the way sky changes is beautiful, so this gallery is in order!

Absolutely loving this so hard! Get in touch to book your own!

Look forward to capturing your family story soon xxx
