*** Before we get into the real stuff, I just need to say how freaking HAPPY I am to be here and blogging because my website has been in various states of broken for 2 months, and we’ve been tearing our hair out (and so have the developers we’ve hired, yes, multiple) and in the end we’ve completely deactivated the online store and things are back to normal again! So those paypal payments were shortlived and at the moment I’m so traumatised by it all, it won’t be back for a while, lol! Anyywaaayyyyy… on with the real stuff! ***

Home sessions are my favourite things to do. I’m lucky to have done a couple of home sessions with these beautiful people and I love their little old character home, too! Last time we captured Hugo he was about to turn 2, and this year he was turning 3 that week. Where does time go?! He’s the cutest little baldie around, and super funny. Big sister Violet is an absolute angel, and their parents are fairly incredible as well. It’s an honour and privilege to be asked to capture people’s lives in the personal way I do it (and I know I say that all the time but it’s really true) and these beautiful people have really been my guinea pigs for years, haha! I’m so pleased with some of the really beautiful shots we got this session and I think you can really feel their divine family dynamic.

So when I arrived Violet was at the very end of the last Harry Potter book, so you can imagine how she felt about my timing, poor love, and Hugo was very busy dancing, and I died of cute:

We assembled Mummy and Daddy in the lounge room too, where knitwear designer of Boris & Stasha Ali immediately began to knit, as always, and Piers began to read. Hugo wanted his puzzle closer (or was it further away?) so cried, obviously lol, and Violet just continued to read trying to block us all out. Actually the sweetest biblophile you’ve ever met, and very used to having my camera in her face!

In Mum and Dads bed is one of my favourite spots to capture families, and often get really nice light as one of the more considered rooms when architects are designing homes. Ali and Piers’ bedroom is no exception and we made great use of the beautiful big window and afternoon sunshine for some casual family portraits.

I always try to capture siblings together, and when they’re all little it can be really tricky. A favourite toy or book can help, but sometimes only bribes work, lol! But when there’s a decent age gap as there is with these beautiful IVF miracles, having big kid read to little kid is my favourite thing eeevveeerrrrr!!

Piers played with Hugo a bit and then I indulged my current obsession: backlighting. This means shadowy or silhouette shots in front of the light source, in this case the window. FAVE.

Outside was so beautiful and sunny we went outside to play, and get a few portraits of Violet with Mum and Dad and I have to say, I absolutely LOVE these! Hugo pulls focus with his adorable toddlerness and so it was lovely to focus on V for these!! and just quietly, Ali knitted both their sweaters, and the sweater Violet is wearing is her own brand new design and I can never help myself around knitwear and have to take close ups, lol! #problems

Finally, Huges cracked it a bit and we called it done for the day. He’s so cute even when he’s being super contrary, bless!

This session is such a great example of a family lifestyle session at home that I love doing! The family hanging out in their fave spots, doing things they love to do, plus laughing and hugging make for the best moments to capture.

Look forward to capturing your family story soon xxx
