A few years ago, my kids and I used to read books together every day, and keep journals of the bits that captured our attention. We did this 2 or 3 days a week for at least 3 years. It was a favourite homeschool practice, a beloved time, a fond memory, and to be honest, I miss it!

I kept meticulous records of it on my homeschool insta account, so I have that and our actual journals to look back on…. magical hours spent exclaiming over stunning images and pouring over interesting words, both narrative and non-fiction… and it gave me an excuse to buy dozens of beautiful books. Ah, those were the days!

I mention this because we always had a poetry book on the go, when we were doing Books and Journals, and we read one or 2 each time. Autumn never fails to remind me of this fave by William B. Branch:

autumn, my love

reminds me how vibrant, how natural, it is to transform

shows me how violently soft we can fall

says, darling, if you’re going that way, you might as well dance on the way down.

I love this. It’s a reminder that life changes and you need to enjoy the ups and downs as much as you can. I take great comfort from these beautiful thoughts from others.

So, to the autumn Minis! They were sunny and cloudy, new clients and repeat, outgoing kiddos and shy ones, and always fun and joyful. Here’s a jumbled collection of faves, and thanks for gracing me with your presence.
