Strap in cos this is pretty different, haha! This is not your typical photo shoot location, and it definitely won’t appeal to everyone. My bestie brought my kids and I to the public viewing area at Terminal 1 at the Perth Airport a couple of years ago, and it’s a cool place to hang out. You can watch the planes take off and land, run around, have snacks, plus it’s almost always deserted… it’s pretty fun!
Since the first time, I’ve been dyiiiiing to do a family photography session there. The big windows, the light (that, to be fair, can be a pain in the booty at times too), the lines provided by the structure of the building, and the diamond grill that lines the top and bottom of the walls… plus that shape; that long narrow space that draws your eye in but doesn’t detract from the subject, amazing! It has a quiet drama to it that’s magic (calling fashion photogs; someone needs to shoot gowns here!)
So I begged my favourite guinea pigs / muse if for their annual July birthday sesh we could shoot there, and the result is glorious! I thoroughly enjoyed flexing my creative muscles in this space with my faves, the McCarney fam, and I’m in love with the result. It’s not a homogenous session, with different light and shadow in different parts of space, but that’s what it makes it so interesting. And, gosh, it speaks to me. So look, it’s a bit of a pain to get too, but it’s worth it so if you like what you see, YES we can do a session here for you too! Yes please!
There’s a lot in this gallery; it was just too hard to narrow down too much because it’s suuuch a cool spot, and a sesh with so many shenanigans. I just love some realistic, fun family photos, just mucking around, and there are no better ages than 4 and 8 years old for that, too, haha. Enjoy!
