I’m really passionate about authentic moment capturing, and motherhood, amongst other things. As mums we tend to take most of the photos and not be in them enough, so please, mama, go take a selfie with your babes today! And get someone to take a snap of you with your kids next time you can. Next time you’re hanging out with your girlfriends, grab her phone and take some photos of her with her kids! I’m known to do this often, particularly when my friends are breastfeeding – so important to remember that phase, it’s over so fast! Who cares about your hair or clothes, I can assure you your kids don’t! And noone will when you look back at those photos, not even you.
But, back to that one photo every mama needs. In my family sessions, there’s one moment I’m often looking for… the joy of motherhood moment. When a mama is with her kids and cracks up laughing, the odd wrinkle or extra chin and all! You may not love this shot or angle right now – we’re all our own worst critics – but I can guarantee you when you’re older and your babes are grown and having babes of their own you will look back and think, “I was so happy and they were so loved, and we are all blessed.”, and gosh, isn’t that what family photography is all about?!
Mumlife is not easy, and we have got to capture the good bits, because we remember the hard days, lol! Here is a jumbled, fun collection of some of my favourite joyful motherhood moments:
